CPRS-VI Speakers BureauCPRS-VI has speakers available on a wide range of public relations topics. Our professional members can provide an overview of the public relations industry and specific aspects of the profession. Available SpeakersDeirdre CampbellDeirdre Campbell, APR, MBA, is co-owner of Tartan Public Relations in Victoria. Deirdre has been in the public relations field for more than 15 years, and now specializes in strategic communications for the island’s growing tourism sector. Deirdre has been on the board of directors for Tourism Victoria since 2001, is a director on the board of the BC Culinary Tourism Society, CPRS-VI and CKKQ's TLC Fund for Kids. She is a member of Les Dames d'Escoffier and is chair of the communications committee for the Oak Bay Centennial in 2006. Tartan Public Relations is the 2005 Business Excellence Award, Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce.Maggie Kerr-SouthinMaggie Kerr-Southin is a president and director of Artemis PR and Design in Victoria, a company she has co-owned for more than a decade. She has worked with Capital Health Region (now Vancouver Island Health Authority) on the landmark Home is Where our Health Is report, defining its direction and draw community support for the move to home health care. She’s also helped promote WCG International Consultants Ltd. as a leader among HR firms throughout North America.Maggie studied writing at Capilano College, and Simon Fraser University, and has sold over 350 magazine and newspaper articles. She is past editor of Focus on Women magazine, has developed and taught the accredited journalism curriculum for the Western Academy of Photography, and is the past-chair of media & public relations for the YM-YWCA's Women of Distinction Awards. Carolyn ThomasCarolyn's background in public relations, communications and journalism spans 33 years, including senior roles with Mercedes-Benz and the BC Lottery Corporation. Several years ago, she abandoned the corporate world in what the Times Colonist called at the time a "riches to rags" career move in order to work first for the Salvation Army, and then for the last six years as Communications Coordinator for Victoria Hospice.Carolyn is the author of two books, an award-winning speaker, a frequent judge at public speaking competitions and a conference workshop leader for local, provincial and national audiences. Her favourite topics include: "Reputation Management", "Winning Presentation Skills", "Communications Tools for Non-Profits", and "Using Public Relations to Cultivate Your Fundraising Efforts".
