Whistler Conference Legacy Bursarys

Did you know that CPRS-VI offers two bursaries for public relations students and professionals?

The Student Legacy Funds Bursary offers a $500 award to students who are members of CPRS-VI, registered in a post-secondary educational program and have completed three or more courses. Watch for more information and an application form in September, 2008.

CPRS-VI also offers a bursary to a pr professional interested in attending the 2009 CPRS national conference. The Legacy Funds National Conference Bursary covers registration for the successful applicant and is available to members of CPRS-VI who are active volunteers in the community and with CPRS. Information on this bursary will be posted fall, 2008.

Torchia Scholarship

Congratulations to Continuing Studies student, Diala Homaidan, who is this year’s recipient of the Torchia Scholarship.  The $1,500 Scholarship is awarded in April each year to a student who has chosen to study public relations/communications in one of Canada’s two official languages that is not his/her first language or mother tongue.

Royal Roads University, in cooperation with the Canadian Public Relations Society, offers several programs of interest to PR students and professionals.

University of Victoria

The Certificate Program in Public Relations has been developed in conjunction with an academic advisory committee which includes professionals and academic representatives from the Canadian Public Relations Society-Vancouver Island; private sector communications agencies; B.C. Government Communications office; Crown Communications offices; and the Division of Continuing Studies, Public Relations Programs, Faculty of Business, and School of Public Administration, University of Victoria. The Program consists of ten courses: seven are mandatory and three are electives. The program is offered exclusively by distance education.
