About Sheldon

Sheldon Johnson first started working for the City of Victoria as the Manager of Engagement in March 2018 and returned to the City in October 2022 as the Director of Communications and Engagement. Today, Sheldon leads a team of 20 communications and public participation professionals and is responsible for overseeing impactful initiatives that give residents and businesses a voice in shaping their community, while keeping them informed about the City’s programs and services.


Sheldon’s professional background includes over a decade in communications at the provincial government, including his most recent role as Director, Recovery Communications with Emergency Management BC, following the historic natural disasters that impacted British Columbia in 2021. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Management, both from Royal Roads University.
